Nutrify (EIT SmartFoodLogging): The marketplace for health professionals

Nutrify is an EIT funded project created by 4 consortium partners. We want to be the bridge between consumers and dieticians / health coaches.

We created a platform that enables our customers to easily log their food and receive detailed feedback from their coaches. Thanks to the powerful engine behind it, we can make in depth and accurate personal recommendations (whereas dieticians work mostly with general guidelines nowadays).

Together with KU Leuven and the University of Warsaw, we have created our own wellness index based on food, emotion and physical activity to monitor the progress of the user, based on their (food) logs.



What drives you?
I am driven by my passion for digital innovation. In my current job, I can combine this with my passion for food. Helping consumers make better and safer food choices is what excites me in my job

Why should the delegate attend your presentation?
My presentation will be about the SmartFoodLogging project which is a consortium project for EIT. We combined business intellect with academic knowledge (KU Leuven and University of Warsaw) to create a solution which is fueled by scientific research.

Not only will I talk about the application as such, I will also explain how the powerful engine – contextual search engine – works that drives it.

What emerging technologies/trends do you see as having the greatest potential in the short and long run?
I believe that the concept of grocery shopping as we know it today – where you go to a retailer once or twice per week – will soon disappear. It will change from retailer-centric to consumer centric. Retailers will have to find an answer in better serving a customer to its personal needs. Data is key!

What kind of impact do you expect them to have?
People will expect the retailer to make choices for the consumer – based on their preferences, guide them in a healthier lifestyle and deliver the food directly into your fridge. Data gathering is crucial. Not only in food choices, but also lifestyle,…

What are the barriers that might stand in the way?
As always ‘change’ is the hardest part. But as soon as some early adopters lead the way, we’re off to go!
